DroneShield releases Q3 2026 software update with counter-UAS tracking and air-gapped update features

DroneShield has released its Q3 2026 software update, which the company says is designed to improve radio-frequency (RF) detection performance, tracking responsiveness and interoperability across its deployed counter-uncrewed aerial systems (counter-UAS) products.

The company framed the release as a response to what it describes as faster and more evasive drone activity, including first-person view (FPV) drones and coordinated multi-drone operations, as well as emitters that shift across frequency bands or use lower-power protocols. DroneShield also pointed to deployments in “GNSS-degraded, remote and air-gapped settings” as a driver for new resilience and offline capabilities.

According to DroneShield, testing against its prior Q2 software release showed gains across its RF sensing portfolio, with performance varying by drone type and operating frequency.

Angus Harris, DroneShield’s chief technology officer, said the company’s quarterly releases focus on engineering improvements intended to translate into operational outcomes for users, including tracking speed, localisation accuracy and additional operational capabilities.

The update includes new features in DroneSentry-C2, DroneShield’s command-and-control software. These include support for air-gapped updates using removable media, intended for disconnected or high-security networks; Cloud Optimised GeoTIFF (COG) map support for offline mapping; and expanded interoperability with additional sensors and third-party systems.

DroneShield said the interoperability additions include support for SentryCompass positioning using dual GNSS receivers with inertial navigation fallback, Robin Radar IRIS on-the-move support for mobile deployments, and Evica PinPoint Searchlight support aimed at improving low-light visual identification. The release also adds language options including Dutch, German, Ukrainian and Japanese, and extends third-party sensor integration through a generic sensor framework.

The Q3 2026 software release is available through the DroneShield Access Portal for eligible customers with active subscriptions, the company said.
