SPARC AI signs MOU for European fixed-wing UAV integration

SPARC AI Inc. says it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a European drone original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to integrate and evaluate its “Overwatch” positioning network on two new fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platforms.

The company said the OEM will carry out independent testing and validation, with SPARC AI providing engineering, training and standby support. The MOU includes a pathway to commercial deployment if testing is validated. SPARC AI said it is not disclosing the manufacturer’s identity or the specific European jurisdiction, citing security sensitivities.

GPS resilience has become a growing focus for defence and critical infrastructure operators as jamming and spoofing increase in conflict zones and contested environments, with UAVs particularly exposed to navigation disruption and targeting errors.

SPARC AI said the fixed-wing integration is intended to expand Overwatch beyond multirotor drones. The company noted that fixed-wing UAVs typically operate over longer distances and durations, increasing the requirement for reliable positioning when GPS signals are “unavailable, denied or downgraded”.

The integration also includes “Overwatch Intelligence”, which SPARC AI describes as a platform designed to consolidate positioning data from multiple connected drones and UAVs into a single operational picture. The company said this is intended to support coordinated operations where situational awareness across multiple aircraft is required.

SPARC AI linked the MOU to what it described as independently verified live trials of Overwatch under GPS jamming in Ukraine and GPS spoofing in the Middle East. It said the tests were run by operators using their own aircraft at their own locations, rather than by SPARC AI using a demonstration platform.

Separately, SPARC AI said it has entered an agreement with a regional advisory firm to support its defence and commercial activities in the Middle East, following a validation flight it said was conducted by a government ministry on government-owned drones under GPS spoofing conditions.
