DroneShield Limited (ASX:DRO) has appointed retired Rear Admiral Lee Goddard CSC as an independent non-executive director, effective 1 July 2026.

Goddard has more than three decades of leadership experience across defence, national security, government and industry, and has held senior command roles within the Royal Australian Navy, culminating in the rank of Rear Admiral, the company said.

DroneShield said Goddard currently serves as a non-executive director of Austal Limited (ASX:ASB), Southern Launch and the Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, and has previously held board and advisory roles with defence and technology organisations.

During his military career, Goddard served as Commander Maritime Border Command and in Operation Sovereign Borders, leading multi-agency operations integrating Defence, Border Force and intelligence capabilities. He has also held senior strategic policy roles within Defence Headquarters and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, providing international policy advice and working on initiatives involving Defence, Home Affairs, Treasury and Foreign Affairs agencies.

DroneShield chairman Hamish McLennan said the appointment was part of an ongoing board renewal process. Goddard said he looked forward to contributing experience in defence, government and international security as the company pursues its next stage of growth.
