INKAS has announced the M1 MRAP, a mine-resistant armoured vehicle developed in collaboration with French mobility company KNDS Mobility.

The company said the platform combines “a proven French mobility architecture” with Canadian armoured-vehicle engineering and systems integration, and is intended to support interoperability among NATO-aligned forces.

INKAS said the M1 is designed to provide 360-degree ballistic and blast protection in line with NATO STANAG standards, while maintaining mobility for operations across complex terrain. The company did not provide specific STANAG levels or independent test results in the announcement.

According to the release, the vehicle is designed as a modular platform that can be configured for roles including troop transport, command and control, reconnaissance, medical evacuation and operational support.

“The M1 reflects how allied partners can combine their industrial expertise to deliver meaningful operational capability,” INKAS CEO David Khazanski said in the statement. He said the project aims for “full NATO compatibility” and to strengthen defence cooperation between Canada and France.

The announcement comes as NATO members continue land-force modernisation efforts, with a focus on protected mobility and interoperability. The release did not detail procurement timelines, pricing, target customers, or whether the M1 is currently in service or undergoing trials.
