Getac Technology Corporation has launched CommandCore, a rugged remote control station designed for professional drone operations across defence, public safety and utilities in Australia and New Zealand.
The company said CommandCore is intended to support a range of uncrewed platforms, including aerial, surface and ground vehicles, and can be configured with different hardware, accessories, payloads and software depending on operational requirements.
At the centre of the offering is Getac’s Ground Control Station (GCS), which the company describes as a mission-ready hub for real-time data processing and drone control in harsh environments. Customers can select different Getac devices for use as the GCS, including the ZX80 fully rugged Android tablet, UX10 fully rugged Windows tablet, S510 rugged Windows laptop, B360 fully rugged Windows laptop, and X600 fully rugged Windows workstation.
Getac said CommandCore can be delivered in different form factors, including an integrated design with built-in controls, an accessory-type design where the computing device can be separated from externally housed controls, and docked or suitcase-based configurations with dual displays aimed at mobile command-and-control use.
The company also positioned CommandCore as an open platform intended to integrate with existing drone ecosystems and interoperate with third-party technologies, with GCS options available on both Android and Windows.
In outlining use cases, Getac said CommandCore could support intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance tasks from mobile and semi-fixed command posts in defence settings; assist first responders conducting reconnaissance during disaster response and search-and-rescue operations; and enable remote inspection of critical infrastructure such as powerlines, substations, pipelines and railways using automated waypoint guidance.
Getac president James Hwang said demand for remote-control solutions is increasing as drone use expands across industries, and that the company expects customisable configurations to be a key requirement for organisations operating in challenging conditions.
