Fujitsu has introduced the latest in the company’s ground-breaking biometric authentication technology that uses the unique pattern of veins in the human hand to verify identity. This new Fujitsu PalmSecure ID Match device – similar to a compact Point of Sale unit – enables organisations of all sizes to protect access, data and payments. Its multi-factor verification is now available in Australia for a wide range of security-sensitive scenarios including workforce management, financial services, public sector agencies, healthcare and retail.
Misuse in a positive (give away your card and PIN) or negative way (stolen card and/or PIN) is eliminated by this technology. The matching of the template on the card and user’s hand are done in the device – no personal biometric data is stored on a server or in the cloud. Because people only have to hover their hand over the screen, the touchless technology is also very hygienic, further safeguarding users.
Fujitsu PalmSecure ID Match combines palm-vein technology and SmartCard with pin code option, for the highest levels of authentication. This easy-to-use solution comprises a PalmSecure sensor, a touchscreen and processor board with the latest technology from ARM – a leader in Intellectual Property microprocessing – plus a multi-card reader.
The device’s strengths are extended by Fujitsu PalmSecure Truedentity that secures data transfer as well as the data itself. This client/server licence-based security software closes the loop to realise maximum security for user authentication, identity management and secure data transfer channels. It protects sensitive corporate data against unauthorised access. The protocols and mechanisms used provide robust protection against known attack scenarios and meet international standards.
With its focus on Human Centric Innovation, Fujitsu delivers flexible and customer-specific software integration based on Fujitsu PalmSecure’s associated Software Development Kit (SDK). The solution can be readily integrated with customer enterprise-to-enterprise applications, such as access control (physical or logical), time attendance, or replacement of passwords for critical applications.
Brendan Smith, Chief Information Secuity Officer (CISO) and Manager, Security Services at Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand, said: “Consumers, citizens and shoppers are becoming more open to new ways of engaging in an increasingly digital world – and will continue to do so as long as trust is maintained. For service providers, this means a greater responsibility to offer impeccable security for their customers’ personal identifiers. True to our Human Centric Innovation approach, Fujitsu PalmSecure is one of the best examples of how Fujitsu is co-creating value with our clients by bringing together the dimensions of people, information and technology.”
The Fujitsu PalmSecure ID Match device, with related SDK, and Fujitsu PalmSecure Truedentity are available now. Both can be purchased separately, direct from Fujitsu.
