Perth-based autonomous systems integrator Drone Forge has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Arkeus to explore integrating Warden, Arkeus’ hyperspectral optical radar, across Drone Forge’s portfolio of autonomous systems.
Under the MoU, the companies plan joint flight operations, data gathering and demonstrations, initially focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, with discussions also extending to international applications. The work is aimed at potential use cases across land, littoral and multi-domain environments.
Warden combines hyperspectral sensing with edge AI to detect, recognise and track targets across wide areas, with the stated aim of reducing the need for operators to manually interpret large volumes of imagery. Arkeus said the technology is intended to provide detailed spectral information about objects and environments, enabling applications where conventional imaging may not be sufficient.
Drone Forge founder Thomas Symes said customers are seeking more capability from uncrewed platforms beyond imagery collection, including the ability to identify and track relevant targets and deliver intelligence quickly enough to support decisions.
Arkeus CEO Simon Olsen said the companies will focus on turning sensor data into actionable information on uncrewed aerial systems, and that the partnership is intended to accelerate deployment through Drone Forge’s platform development and operational experience.
The companies said the agreement reflects growing demand for more advanced sensing and autonomous capabilities across defence, critical infrastructure and resources, and that they will continue to assess customer applications and commercial pathways as the collaboration progresses.
