Axon Vision says it has completed operational demonstrations and evaluation activities for its EDGE ClearSky drone detection system, following an assessment conducted by what it described as a “leading defense force”.
The company said the evaluation tested EDGE ClearSky against a range of first-person view (FPV) drone threats targeting manoeuvring forces, a category of threat that has expanded rapidly in recent conflicts due to the low cost and availability of drones and associated components.
According to Axon Vision, EDGE ClearSky is part of its EDGE AI computer-vision product line and is intended to support detection, identification and interception of aerial threats from armoured platforms. The system uses thermal sensing and AI-based real-time processing, and is designed to integrate with onboard weapon systems to support an automated “detect-to-intercept” cycle.
Axon Vision said it is conducting additional trials with military customers in multiple markets as part of the system’s continued operational development.
The company also pointed to its partnership with Leonardo DRS, saying it is supplying systems for counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) applications in the US military market and has received an initial order for demonstrator systems.
In a statement, CEO Neri Zin said the evaluation was an “important milestone” and framed FPV drone detection as an operational necessity for manoeuvring forces.
