Victoria-based robotics and 3D printer technology company LUTYEN has sold one of its top-of-the-line, large-scale construction 3D printers 3D to New South Wales startup 3VIMA.

The company has previously sold its Platypus X4 Special Edition 3D printer to entities in the UK and United Arab Emirates. The printer can print entire structures in a single print up to eight metres wide and four metres high. It is easily transported to the site and, once on site, highly mobile, enabling it to move around the site with ease.

Designed and manufactured by LUTYEN, 3VIMA’s purchase has the capacity to build single structures within hours.

“Using our state-of-the-art 3D printer and technology, combined with our Ultimatecrete Strength concrete mix, 3VIMA is positioning itself as the leader of hybrid building practices in Australia,” said LUYTEN CEO Ahmed Mahil. “This is an extremely exciting time for Australia and the 3D building and construction sector worldwide.”

“We are thrilled to take delivery of the Platypus X4,” said 3VIMA CEO and Founder Jai Ranganathan. “We searched worldwide for the best technology in the 3D printing space only to find it here in Melbourne. We feel fortunate to find an Australian product with world-class standards and industry-leading capabilities.”

“The design of the X4 Special Edition is exceptional, as it can do an entire house in a single print setup and it takes less than two hours to assemble on-site,” he added. “We will be able to run the printer in shifts around the clock, with an extremely low noise factor, which can become a huge advantage when we operate with neighbours around. Through our extensive tests and ongoing field projects, we are assured of LUTYEN ’s high-quality standards and equipment reliability, which has never failed us even once.”

Mr Ranganathan said 3VIMA’s pipeline projects include a cottage-style resort in the Blue Mountains.
