Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Marillyn Hewson has acknowledged the significant contribution made by Australian industrial partners to the F-35 program. At a reception held at the Avalon International Airshow 2017 to coincide with the arrival of Australia’s first two F-35s, Ms. Hewson commended the innovation of the Australian F-35 industrial partners, and the critical role they play in delivering the unrivalled capabilities that enable the F-35 to fulfil its mission. Joining Ms. Hewson and representatives from Australian F-35 suppliers were Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Leo Davies AO, and Royal Australian Air Force F-35 pilots Andrew Jackson and David Bell. In addition to expanding Australia’s defence capabilities, the production of the F-35 has created opportunity for Australian industry. The contributions of these companies, worth a contracted value (as at December 2016) of over AUD$800 million, further develop Australia’s industrial base and sustain, and create, hundreds of jobs in high tech manufacturing.
