Embraer Develops Artificial Intelligence Solution

Embraer has developed a new artificial intelligence–powered planning system designed to boost operational efficiency across its aircraft production supply chain, following a ten-month project conducted with Brazilian AI specialist Aquarela Analytics.
The new system, called Smart Planning, draws on more than two terabytes of data analysed during the development program. It provides Embraer with an interactive dashboard that tracks materials used in aircraft manufacturing, helping teams anticipate shortages, avoid excess stock and tighten purchasing cycles. By applying AI-based forecasting, the platform gives planners early insight into potential supply risks and enables faster adjustments across the production chain.
Dimas Tomelin, Embraer’s Vice President of Strategy, Digital and Innovation, said the tool is the company’s most advanced data-driven planning capability to date.
“Smart Planning makes Embraer’s processes more effective by giving us much greater predictability,” he said. “It supports more accurate materials management and improves planning efficiency through artificial intelligence and a robust prediction model.”
The joint project combined Embraer’s Agile by Embraer methodology with Aquarela Analytics’ Data Culture Methodology, progressing from data extraction and AI model development to the creation of visualisation layers that translate complex datasets into operational insights.
Aquarela Analytics CEO Marcos Santos said the collaboration expanded as the benefits of the system became clear.
“We applied our AI and data-analysis expertise to transform and integrate Embraer’s operating environment,” he said. “Each phase increased in complexity as the project evolved. We’re pleased with both the results and the partnership.”
Smart Planning has already improved inventory management across Embraer’s global manufacturing ecosystem and establishes a data foundation for future supply-chain digitalisation initiatives. Embraer says the system is helping reduce costs, improve quality, and strengthen relationships with suppliers.
