DroneShield expands radar interoperability through partnership with Robin Radar Systems

DroneShield (ASX:DRO) has announced a partnership with Robin Radar Systems aimed at expanding the range of radar sensors that can be integrated into DroneShield’s counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) deployments.

The company said the interoperability work is intended to broaden radar options for customers and support layered airspace awareness across defence, critical infrastructure and public safety environments.

Robin Radar Systems develops 360-degree, 3D radar designed to detect and track small airborne objects, including drones. DroneShield said the radars are intended to provide detection and classification performance in complex environments.

The partnership forms part of DroneShield’s strategy to build an ecosystem of interoperable third-party sensors, rather than a closed system, giving operators more choice in configuring detection for different operational contexts.

DroneShield said the integration will be supported through its DroneSentry-C2 command-and-control platform, which it says can combine inputs from multiple sensor types to create a consolidated operational picture.

DroneShield Chief Product Officer Angus Bean said customers are seeking systems that can be adapted to mission requirements, and that the company’s sensor marketplace approach is designed to provide greater flexibility in airspace security design.

Robin Radar Chief Commercial Officer Marcel Verdonk said the company’s IRIS 3D radar is designed for integration into broader security architectures, and that the partnership is intended to support layered airspace protection.
