Gallagher — global leaders in integrated access control, perimeter security, and intruder alarms — has been chosen to assist the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to secure a terminal cross-border facility on the west coast. This new development will use the FIPS 201-2 compliant Gallagher PIV Solution, implementing integrated access control with video surveillance through one management platform.
This is a very unique installation for our team, says Brandy Sloan, Federal Business Development Manager for Gallagher. “Our U.S. purpose built solution will see security span both Federally-controlled and commercial facilities.
“Our PIV Solution enables the most secure and fastest form of authentication by employing a fully encrypted, end-to-end Physical Access Control System (PACS). This installation will give the approximate 2.4 million passengers it will serve security peace of mind and transport convenience.”
The PIV Solution’s unique capabilities allow for PKI authentication and full certificate path validation at the door without the need for additional hardware modules, while also allowing for remote firmware updates to system devices over a high-speed RS-485 connection. This architecture also allows for a faster card read by eliminating the use of unsecure Wiegand communications protocol.
The Gallagher PIV Solution is listed on the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) PACS Approved Products List (PACS APL) for single and dual factor authentication solutions for procurement by the Federal government.
