SPARC AI Inc. has launched Overwatch Patrol, a dismounted positioning application designed to provide continuous location information to soldiers and security personnel in environments where GPS is jammed, spoofed, degraded or unavailable.
The company unveiled the product at MSPO, the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce, Poland. SPARC AI said the launch comes amid persistent GNSS interference across Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, which has increased demand for assured positioning.
SPARC AI said Overwatch Patrol requires no additional hardware, external receiver or antenna. The company said the system was initially designed for navigation on military-grade phones and now operates on the Overwatch Positioning Network, described as SPARC AI’s cloud-based positioning service. SPARC AI said it can be delivered to mobile devices either as a native application or through a web browser.
The new version also includes a shared-position feature intended to let multiple users view one another’s live positions in real time without GPS. According to the company, teams can be formed using a dynamic code generated by a group’s commander, allowing members to join or leave without a central administrator or pre-configured devices.
SPARC AI also highlighted a rally-point feature that allows any team member to place a shared point on a map for others to navigate to. The company said this could support commanders in changing linkup points during events such as casualty evacuation or when routes become unusable.
At MSPO, SPARC AI said its management team met with prospective technology partners and discussed potential integration of Overwatch Patrol with tactical radio network providers to extend shared position data across existing communications infrastructure.
