UK-based defence technology company Rotron is set to be acquired by US-listed Ondas Inc. in a move aimed at expanding the delivery of long-range autonomous systems to UK and allied defence markets.
Under the agreement, Rotron will become part of Ondas Autonomous Systems, integrating its unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous strike platforms and proprietary propulsion technologies into Ondas’ broader system architecture. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Rotron operates in the unmanned and autonomous defence sector, focusing on propulsion, platform design and long-range capability. Its portfolio includes vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) systems and uncrewed combat aerial vehicles designed for extended endurance and autonomous operation in contested environments.
Key platforms include the Talon multi-role VTOL series and the Defendor autonomous attack system. The company says its systems are designed to balance range, manufacturability and operational resilience, with a vertically integrated model that spans prototyping through to industrial production.
Ondas said the acquisition strengthens its footprint in the UK and NATO defence ecosystems and expands its portfolio of long-range autonomous systems. The transaction comes amid growing demand among allied defence forces for cost-effective, attritable unmanned platforms capable of operating in high-threat environments.
Rotron will continue to operate from the UK following completion of the deal, retaining its engineering and manufacturing teams. The company said its existing customer and partner commitments will remain in place.
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation in the autonomous defence sector, as companies seek scale, integration and international market access in response to accelerating investment in unmanned and autonomous military capabilities.
